Reflection on public health principles and practice

The clients and population, public health practitioners need to be self-aware by regularly reflecting on their experiences, feedback from their peers and their own capabilities. This reflective assessment has been designed to develop your cognitive and critical thinking skills, essential for a career in public health. The assessment allows you to broaden your own understanding of each topic through engaging in academic discourse, while developing their skills to engage in formal discussions with your peers. It allows you to develop your ability to reflect on the learning content, discuss and share ideas in a professional manner.

Task Summary 

In this Assessment (Reflection 1 and Reflection 2) you are required to reflect on your understanding of the topics/theories/principles presented in each module and through Class activities (e.g. workshop or guest speaker session) and discussions with your peers. Specific topics/questions will be provided in class. 

Assessment 1 consists of two parts: 

1. Assessment 1 Reflection 1 (500 words): covering Modules 1 to 4 

2. Assessment 1 Reflection 2 (700 words): covering Modules 5 to 12

Instructions 

1. You need to refer to module content of each learning module. You will engage in discussions and workshops with your peers in class. 

2. Then, using critical thinking skills, write a reflective opinion/analysis/perspective of your own understanding of the module contents. Discussion topic for each module will be provided by your Learning Facilitator. Please read those topics carefully.

 3. Seek further information from authoritative textbooks, peer reviewed journals, government reports or academic online sources. At least THREE credible references are required for each module reflection.

 4. Integrate knowledge/information with your critical thinking to address particular discussion topic for each module. 

5. Do a spelling and grammar check and proofread your work to ensure ideas are clear and flow logically. Great ideas can get lost in sentences that are difficult to understand.
