COMM 301 Week 2 Assignment 1 | Los Rios Community College

Rough Draft Outline Peer Review

Now that you have read our textbook's chapters 91011, and 12 on outlines and all three main parts of speeches (intros, bodies, and conclusions) as well as seen the directions for the outline and Jami's student example speech and outline, your mission this week is to submit a rough draft of your own Introduction Speech's outline.

1.    Please create your rough draft outline and upload it as a Google Docs, Word Doc, or PDF (no Pages documents; Canvas is not compatible with Pages).

2.    At the top of your outline, write a few sentences letting your classmates know what you are worried about or unsure of in this rough draft of your speech's outline.

Peer Review

1.    Respond to your two assigned peers and give them specific and thorough feedback on their outline based off the outline instructions. and the concepts mentioned in chapter 12 Links to an external site.of our textbook. Helpful feedback will move beyond "Looks good!" A good rule of thumb is to find one or two specific aspects of their assignment that look particularly strong, and tell them what that is and why it looks strong, as well as find one or two places where you think they can make some improvements.  The goal is to help them create a better outline, so be specific about what is working or could be better when you give them feedback.

Don't feel nervous about sharing your work.  We all understand this is your rough draft; trust me that it will be beneficial to you to get feedback from one another on your organization, a second set of eyes to help ensure you're including all the elements of the introduction and the conclusion, and that you've got clear transitions and signposting between your three parts of the speech (intro, body, conclusion) as well as between each main point.

It is my sincere hope that this feedback will help you continue to refine and practice with your outline right up until your final draft is due before your speech session.
