LDST 370 Week 1 Discussion 1 | Assignment Help | Regent University
Week 1: Dialogue
As we begin sharing in
our discussion, keep an open mindset for using the decision making techniques
that we learn in our reading. Our books promote looking at opportunities in
unique ways and discussion is a good way to start!
As you answer our
dialogue each week, keep a focus on our learning objectives for this time. A
question to bear in mind or answer for all of our weeks in dialogue is: How
does this relate to our Learning Objectives and what did we learn?
As unique learners,
each post could cover the individual's understand of one of the objectives.
Another student might write about a specific part of his/her reading that helps
a classmate understand it better. This is learning together and certainly makes
it more interesting!
Our concepts are viable
in many different environments such as in your employment, leadership in your
groups or church, or at home. Different roles that you play in your life such
as being volunteer, being a friend or even a manager will provide many
opportunities to use and sharpen your decision making skills!
1. Share a concept of
your choice from our reading and explain it to your classmates. The purpose is
to select something that affects you and others that you can apply. Elaborate
upon the idea from your reading and how that it could be utilized in making
decisions. For example, you could answer these questions: Did you identify
anything from your reading that may apply to you from your past, present or
future? Explain how you could utilize this idea.
2. In what ways or situations
could the scripture from Timothy help in making decisions? For example, the
King James Version states in the seventh verse that, "For God hath not
given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind." Questions to answer can include: How can this relate to or support
us in making decisions? If you see that this has already been brought out in
dialogue, what do other versions of the Bible say? What other Biblical
scripture would guide you in decision making? For example, a basic one could be
one of the Ten Commandments which guides us in choices.
As you read your
classmates' replies, what could you add or offer from our reading or your
research this week?
Compose a initial post
in our discussion forum by Midnight on Thursday of this week. Remember to
follow the word count requirements of your instructor from your syllabus. If
you reach the word count limit in your initial post before answering all the
questions, you can answer them later in a reply. Return to the forum and discuss
these with course-mates. Did you detect similar perceptions and understanding
in the posts of your colleagues? Using your research, contribute two reply
posts by Midnight Sunday of this week.
Click on the Dialogue
link on the side menu. When you are on the Group Page, click on the group
highlighted for you. Once inside, click on Discussion Board option, then on Add
Thread to create a space for your post. Click Submit to make your post
available to the rest of the class. To respond to other students’ threads,
click on Reply button in the bottom right corner inside of a message.
6/20 Note: To achieve
an analytical level, at least one reference should support each post; at least
one reference from the Required Research Sources in our Course Resources should
support at least one post weekly. For
example, the original post should include points from the assigned readings or
other sources. Therefore, research from our assigned reading or one of the
Required Research Sources to support it. In other words, you could write you
first post with a reference from the week’s reading or the Required Research
Sources, including it in the Reference list. To agree or disagree in a reply, I
suggest your learning from the weekly reading along with integrating your work
experience or researching about the topics. For example, perhaps you identify a
business practice at your workplace with reading from the week. Then you could
integrate this. Support your reply posts with material from one of our books.
In other words, a reference from our book is the minimal requirement for posts.
If you want to support more postings with this Regent Library Required Research
Sources, you will certainly learn more and contribute to our dialogue learning
environment.
Our Course Resources
provide details and guidelines supported by our department. This will get you
started! The following points show the purpose of your original postings to the
Discussion Board and your replies to others’ postings.
