Assignment: Class Participation


Purpose
To assess your ability to intellectually engage with fellow students and work within a group/class environment.


Overview
A significant part of student learning comes from the knowledge and experience other students bring. A robust discussion is dependent on this input from peers to complement the expertise the instructor brings. Critical thinking is also a key learning objective of higher education, which requires students to carefully listen and frame the discussion within the context of prior experience and learning. To the extent there is confusion, students need to raise the issue by challenging comments that others make or asking questions that clarify their questions. In both cases, students need to be actively engaged in discussions by both listening and actively contributing to the discussions.
Note: Your work in class/Meet sessions is directly related to your assignments. What you do as we meet together will affect the degree to which you will be prepared to complete assignments satisfactorily.

3.	Actively participate in discussions and team activities. Raise questions when there is not a full understanding or when comments by others appear to be in conflict what you have read or otherwise learned. Raise comments and questions in tactful ways that respect other people's points of view.
