Due Thursday

To reach your financial goals you will need to save money. To save money you will need a plan to show what money comes in and what goes out – in other words, a budget. You may already have a budget you follow, or you may feel you don’t need one since you pay all your bills. A budget helps you to become a conscious spender as you make deliberate choices about how you will put your money to work for you. One choice you will learn about this week is your tax withholding from your paycheck.

As you work this week, reflect on how you manage your money. Do you use a manual process of writing things down? Do you use an app or tool from your bank or other source? How do you know if you will have enough money for an upcoming bill? How do you plan for variable expenses like a vacation or gifts?

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

·         Which concepts from Ch. 3 and Ch. 4 will be most important to your finances? Why are these relevant to you and how might you apply them to your life?

·         What is your experience with creating and using a personal budget? How does, or how could, budgeting help you achieve your financial goals? If you have been able to stick with a budget, what has worked for you? If you have not been able to, what might help you create a budget you could use?

·         In the Ch. 4 Textbook and Learning Path, watch “Peer-to-Peer Video: Review Your Paycheck Withholdings Regularly.” How can the amount of your tax withholding affect your budget or financial goals?
