the United States Congress.
University Mission Statement
The Board
of Trustees recently reviewed the university's mission, seeking a reimagined,
focused statement that articulates the George Washington University's primary
role. Ultimately, the Board found the best inspiration hiding in plain
sight in GW's founding document—its Congressional Charter:
The mission of the George Washington University is to educate individuals in
liberal arts, languages, sciences, learned professions, and other courses and
subjects of study, and to conduct scholarly research and publish the findings
of such research.
