1	Both Australia and New Zealand are plural societies, and there were indigenous people in both countries when the European settlers arrived.  In virtually every respect, however, the historical geographies of contact and interaction in the two countries have progresses in very different ways.  The differences relate to contrasts in indigenous as well as immigrant cultures, divergent population numbers, contrasting territorial dimensions and physiographies, and dissimilar governmental policies and practices.  Comment on the differences between Australia and New Zealand in this context.  Are there ways in which indigenous demands are similar?  How are they expressed on the map?
