Select an ecosystem, such as a temperate forest, desert biome, or the Everglades.
 
Create a diagram in which you illustrate the energy flow among organisms of a food chain in a particular ecosystem. See Ch. 20 of the text for details and examples.
 
Determine the interdependency of life in your ecosystem by examining its organisms in the following ways:
 
Show some of the organisms that can be found in your ecosystem.
 
Select a few of the major organisms that live in your selected ecosystem to include at least one from each of these categories:
 
Producers
Consumers
Decomposers.
 
Describe a part of your ecosystem’sfood web by addressing the following:
Name of the plant or animal
What it eats
What eats it
 
Select at least two organisms in your ecosystem
Identify the structure and function of at least three specialized features it has
Explain how these features are suited to that ecosystem
 
Evaluate potential hazards caused by humans that might affect your ecosystem’s stability and survival.
 
Present your team’s Food Web Diagram to the class in a 15-minute oral presentation with 12-16 slides illustrating the diagram and your findings.
