In Chapter 8 you learned the impact to children from foster care. Discussed in Chapter 12 are resiliency factors to assist with positive child development.

•           Illustrate risks for maltreatment for foster care youth.

•           Risks to foster care children are great and it is important to know how to combat these risk factors thus examine resiliency of foster care children. Provide an explanation of three risk factors to foster care children and then discuss how resiliency is present even with presented risks.

•           To reduce risks to children the readings discuss how parents can provide assistance. Analyze the positive child development principles and or models. discussed. Choose one model and provide a rationale as to why you would use this model in your practice with children and families.

•           Examine how positive child development can be applied to foster care children and illustrate the linkage of these two concepts.
