ENGL 212 Week 2 Discussion | Regent University

Respond to one of the following questions for your initial dialogue post:

1) Much of the later Romantic literature centers on the tragedy of human mortality. Youth and love and beauty and the very best of human aspiration all pass away in time. The frustrating limitations of human mortality shake even the strongest of individuals. Choose one work from this unit that seems especially interesting to you in its address of this theme. Which details particularly moved you and why?

2) Only Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" of the assigned poems in this unit is specifically Christian. Several of the others challenge Christian teaching at points. Choose one such work and explain using specific textual details the nature of the challenge and how you might respond.
