Assessment Details: 

Portfolio consisting of the following parts:

Part 1 - In groups students are to research different defects and give a PPT presentation. (20%) 15% individual 5% group

Students will be allocated into groups of 4-6. Each student will be given 2 pathological aspects of commercial buildings to investigate. Students are to prepare a maximum 30 minute PPT presentation between them for these defects. The PPT is expected to cover the cause, likely location, identification and remediation of each of the defects. Each student can speak for a maximum of 6 minutes within the presentation. The presentation will take place during class time and students are expected to attend all presentations and provide peer feedback to the other groups. The Group presentation must be uploaded to moodle, together with cliear identification of the authors of each section, and a Harvard reference list for the slides, presentation content and any images etc used provided for each individual student

Task 1 

With aid of a flowchart, prepare a proposal on the scope of your consulting work which will be presented to your client. It shall include a method statement of your site investigation to be carried out for the floor slab structure and the post-investigation structural analysis. Your consulting service shall comply with guidelines and requirements set out by the Buildings Department of the local HKSAR Government currently in force.

Part 1 – Anticipated duration 10 hours ( up to 1500 words equivalent)
