11/23 discussion board Liu chapter 5

-Please make a post that answers one of the following questions.

-This is a graded 1-point discussion board. Meritorious posts may grant one a bonus point.

-Attendance Monday is optional. Class time on Monday will be dedicated to a SWA#3 writing workshop.

1) How can superstitious beliefs be rational? (91-92)

2) Does our tendency to mistake luck for skill when evaluating exceptional performances have an evolutionary explanation? Liu thinks so; is his reasoning cogent? (92-93)

3) In the last paragraph of the book, Liu makes a seemingly random ethical assertion, that is, that exceptional winners should imitate the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett because they have “chosen to commit their wealth and success to worthy causes. The winners who appreciate their luck and do not take it all for themselves deserve a large portion of our respect” (95). How, if at all, could Liu’s empirical research support this normative claim?
