Blackboard Group
Discussion Board Rubric:
The following points
are what is looked for in your original postings to the Discussion Board and
your replies to other postings:
ONE Original Postings
(70%): 1. Directly addresses the questions posed by the instructor. 2. Mentions
at least 2 specific points from the assigned readings or other sources,
properly referenced using APA style. 3. Discussion at an analytical level,
offering sound reasons for answers, not just recitation of opinions or even
facts from the assigned readings. 4. Length of posting approximately 200-300
words.
Note: Discussion at an
analytical level means discussing how and why you answer the discussion
questions as you do. It is not merely a statement of your personal opinion, but
why you hold that opinion. Offer constructive comments and suggestions of
creative, while practical, answers. Use biblical references as appropriate. Identify
other viewpoints, including those studied so far in this or other courses. The
most important thing to do is to answer the questions and justify your analysis
with sound reasons. 10% penalty will be applied to all late contributions,
similar to late assignments.
TWO Replies to Other
Students’ Postings (30%): 1. Discuss one point you like/agree with, and one
point you dislike/disagree with, and why. If you find no points of significant
disagreement, offer at least two distinct points with which you agree. What
implications arise from other students’ posts? 2. Length of postings:
approximately 100-150 words each. Please remember that your final posts are due
by Sunday night. 3. But when they are late, then your group members are not gaining
any appreciation for your input. So, you met the physical requirement; but not
the spirit of what a discussion post is supposed to simulate, which is interaction
among classmates.
