Week 7 Discussion Board: Reaction/Reflection Video Response

Sociological analysis focuses on group interaction. Group descriptions are based on aggregated statistical data – but what is true of the group is not necessarily true of each individual within that group. All a of us belong to ascribed groups which have become Mater Statuses, each of which Schaefer discusses in varying detail. In this video recorded Power Point presentation, students will consider their reaction to the textbook’s presentation of one group to which they belong. The successful presentation will include:

·         Your initial reaction to the presentation of an ascribed group to which you belong

·         An exploration of the process by which you intellectualized your feelings, and

·         Some objective conclusions you’ve reached

By its nature, this project focuses on a subjective process (an explicitly introspective analysis), but the presentation should be as objective as possible, to explain that process to other students.

The goals are both to describe your reaction, and to present yourself as an individual, not just a member of the group(s) to which you belong.

Requirements:

·         Create a Kaltura video of a Power Point presentation (The following tutorials  will help you create your video response

·         The power point presentation should be comprised of approximately 4-6 slides, with 3-4 points on each.

·         Additionally, include a Title slide and a Reference slide (at a minimum, as this is a reaction to Schaefer, his text should be cited).

·         Upload your video as a discussion board response.

·         Reply to at least two other students, preferably to those whose presentations reflect other group statuses than your own.
