WEEK 5 DISCUSSION BOARD: EXPLORING ACTION RESEARCH
Action research involves various cycles
of action for planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Using the Action
Research Steps (see Chapter 17), create a five-step plan that might be applied
in the setting where you presently work (or have worked in the past). Address
the following questions in your initial post:
·
What
problem would you address and why?
·
How
might you approach the design using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed
methods?
·
What
data would you collect and how would you triangulate?
·
What
software would you use to analyze the data?
·
How
would you share your results and why share them to these stakeholders?
·
Your
present or past job setting may not be in counseling but what counseling/mental
health needs could you address as a part of your plan?
Complete your initial post by Day
4 your
action research steps, addressing the questions above.
Post by Day 6 the benefits/limitations you see
in the plans presented by your peers in the forum. In order to be eligible for maximum points, respond by Day
6 to two or more peers (with responses on separate days) , which may
include your instructor, who provided different examples/articles than the one
you selected. Support your initial post with at least two cited
resources. Include
all references in APA format and respond by to your peers by using one or more of
the following:
·
Asking
a probing question
·
Sharing
an insight from having read your colleague’s posting
·
Offering
and supporting an opinion
·
Validating
an idea with your own experience
·
Making
a suggestion
·
Expanding
on your colleague’s posting.
Return to this Discussion in a few days to
read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you have learned and/or
any insights you have gained as a result of the comments your colleagues made.
