Module 3 Engagement Discussion Forum Topic 2 (of 3): African Americans and Unique Struggles

There are many problems facing American families today, especially African American families. 

Two major problems are the fact that over 50% of African American families are headed by only a mother and the other problem is the high out of wedlock birthrate. Given these two problems, share your thoughts using the course material and other sources as to the root cause of these problems and any possible solutions. Your response may also address issues with the education system and its particular impact on African Americans.  Be sure to cite your sources properly in-text and in an alphabetized reference list.
