Module 7 - Discussion: Invitation to a Mathematician

Use the Hunt Library Resources to research a mathematician’s discovery. Be sure to relate your mathematician to the Learning Outcomes of this course. Find out what he/she is famous for, including a little background information. The Hunt Library Research Librarians have prepared a Subject Guide to help you get started.

Create

·         Write a letter to your mathematician, inviting him/her to speak to our class, highlighting what he/she is most famous for, including biographical information, education, and published works.

·         Tell the mathematician what he/she discovered or why he/she is important. You may include some background information on your mathematician.

·         Your letter should be at least 200 words and relate to the Learning Outcomes of this course. Submit your post through Turnitin. Once your instructor has given you a grade of Complete, please copy and paste it in this discussion for your classmates to view and comment.

·         List the resources used at the end of your post using APA style. See the Hunt Library’s Research Guide on APA Style for some help (and a link to EAGLET if you need some support).

Your initial post should be at least 200 words minimum and submitted by the 4^th day of the module. Then, read your classmates’ posts and reply to at least two with observations that add to a conversation about the course topics. You must make your initial post before you can see the posts of your classmates.
