Module 7 - Discussion: Invitation to a Mathematician

Use the Hunt Library Resources to research a mathematician’s discovery. Be sure to relate your mathematician to the Learning Outcomes of this course. Find out what he/she is famous for, including a little background information. The Hunt Library Research Librarians have prepared a Subject Guide to help you get started.

Create

·         Write a letter to your mathematician, inviting him/her to speak to our class, highlighting what he/she is most famous for, including biographical information, education, and published works.

·         Tell the mathematician what he/she discovered or why he/she is important. You may include some background information on your mathematician.

·         Your letter should be at least 200 words and relate to the Learning Outcomes of this course. Submit your post through Turnitin. Once your instructor has given you a grade of Complete, please copy and paste it in this discussion for your classmates to view and comment.

·         List the resources used at the end of your post using APA style. See the Hunt Library’s Research Guide on APA Style for some help (and a link to EAGLET if you need some support).

Your initial post should be at least 200 words minimum and submitted by the 4th day of the module. Then, read your classmates’ posts and reply to at least two with observations that add to a conversation about the course topics. You must make your initial post before you can see the posts of your classmates.
