Unit 2: Discussion - Access to Health Care

 

During this unit we will be discussing how the changes in medicine and technology are affecting the delivery of health care.  We will also examine the various models and measures of access to health care now and in the future.

1.      Discuss the differences between “need” for; “demand” for; and “utilization” of health services.  Please provide an example of each that you have either personally experienced as a health care professional or consumer in the delivery of health care services.

2.      Discuss the various models and measures of access to health care as discussed in the text. 

3.      Download an article from the internet that discusses access to healthcare. Place the article into document sharing for your peers to read.

4.      Briefly summarize your opinion of the information contained in the article and any recommendations to improve access to healthcare in a posting in the discussion board.  Include the title of your article and author in your posting.
