During this unit we will be examining the financing and structuring of Health Care.  We will take a closer look at Managed Care and Private Health Insurance structure and finance mechanisms.

Financing Health Services

1.  There have been a number of important initiatives in health care financing in recent years:  Please discuss the following key initiatives:  
(a) TEFRA (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act 
(b) The Prospective Payment System 
(c) RBRVS (Resource-Based relative Value System)
(d) Selective contracting 
(e) Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO’s)

2. Discuss the various national policy initiatives that have been presented or proposed in recent years, either by the presidents or by Congress.
