In order to do this, use the following questions as a guide:

1.      What are the key elements/components of EACH of these sectors as they pertain to Amazon?

2.      How do EACH of the sectors and elements/components relate to each other?

3.      How do they relate to other sectors (as presented in the textbook) that influence Amazon (e.g., economic sector, political sector, and legal sector)?

4.      What is the “core technology” (from the concept as defined by your textbook) of Amazon? Is there more than one? Explain.

Part 2: Amazon: Examples of Technology and Organizational Behavior

Choose ONE (1) of the following examples provided in the film Amazon Empire:

a.       Media and online media sellers (e.g., books, bookstores/publishers, authors, etc.)

b.      Labor and occupational issues

c.       Artificial intelligence and Amazon Echo (“Alexa”) and Ring

d.      Amazon Marketplace and third-party sellers

e.       Amazon Web Services (AWS) and government contracts

Use this example to answer the following questions:

1.      What technology or technologies did Amazon develop or perfect that are being used in relation to the example you chose from the list above?

2.      How did Amazon use that technology, and for what purpose(s)?

3.      Did this technology serve to give Amazon an advantage over other companies? Explain.

4.      Lastly, toward the end of the film, Andy Jassy (CEO, Amazon Web Services) says:

“You know, Amazon as a whole has become—has been successful, but simply because the company’s been successful in a few different business segments doesn’t mean it’s somehow too big.”

What does you group think about this statement?
