Instructions

1.   Read Chapter 1 in Communication in the Real World:  An Introduction to Communication Studies, in preparation for this assignment.

2.   In your initial post, respond to the following prompts:

a.   Introduce yourself to your classmates by posting your name, background, profession, and what you hope to gain from the course specifically related to communication.

b.   Share a general assessment of your communication strengths and weaknesses and specifically identify things you would like to improve upon.

3.   Your initial post is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.

4.   Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings, as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop. Read other students’ posts and address at least two of these questions:

a.   Are there any other students in the course with a similar background?

b.   Would you like to know more about any of the professions that other students listed?

c.   Were there any comments about what other students hope to gain from the course that you had not considered?  Feel free to be creative and think of your own questions as well.

d.   Can you relate to communication strengths and weaknesses of your classmates?

5.   Your postings should also:

a.   Be well developed by providing clear answers with evidence of critical thinking.

b.   Add greater depth to the discussion by introducing new ideas.

c.   Provide clarification to classmates’ questions and provide insight into the discussion.
