There has been a lot of excellent comments about big-pictureethics but lets look at a couple simple situations. Your responsesshould be based on the actions of the employees and NOT the actionof the businesses.

As you may have noticed, I respond to some of your questions anddiscussion posts during normal working hours when I am at my deskat work.   Am I acting ethically or not?

I was sitting in an Irish pub is a large metropolitan area oneSaturday evening several months ago when a city police officerwalked in. The bartender automatically drew him a soft drink andsat it on the bar for him. He drank it, walked around the area andleft. Is the police officer acting ethically or not?

It is and has been common for many convenience stores and fastfood restaurants to give large discounts on coffee and food toon-duty firefighters or police officers. We are talking half-priceto free. Is it ethical for them to accept these discounted or freeitems?
