The process of creating information can result in a wide range of information types and formats. As a researcher, it is important to understand that the quality of information is valued differently based on how it is created. You have learned this week that scholarly sources are created differently from popular sources; they are valued differently and are used in different ways based on your information needs.

For this assignment, another exciting step is taken toward the Week 5 Wikipedia Stub Article Expansion final project by finding scholarly and popular sources to support your subtopics. You will reinforce your understanding of the characteristics of scholarly and popular sources, and then apply that knowledge to find relevant sources that can support the Wikipedia article that you plan to expand.

 Prepare

·         Complete the Library Orientation (Links to an external site.) interactive.

·         Review Section 3.3 of the textbook.

·         Review A Reference Guide to APA 7^th Edition (Links to an external site.).

·         Watch the library tutorial series video Database Search Tips (Links to an external site.).

·         Review the grading rubric (Links to an external site.) for this assignment.

·         Review the Week 2: Model Exploring Scholarly and Popular Sources (Links to an external site.).

·         Using relevant keywords, search for a scholarly article using the University of Arizona Global Campus Library, and search for a popular article using a search engine like Google.

o    Review your subtopics and keywords that you selected in your Exploring Your Wikipedia Stub Article assignment in Week 1.
